Game 13: vs. Blue Valley at BV West (8-2)
We seemed a little flat early with some Iowa hangover, but we responded very well to Blue Valley grabbing the lead 1-0. We answered furiously.
We were able to get Payne and Joey to the bench pretty early to work on healing.
We also debuted Jacob Muckerman—he did so well, even saving a counter-attack, earning the yellow.
We had seven different guys score in the match. We took a 4-1 halftime lead against the wind into a second half where we duplicated the score.
And we scored multiple goals from the run-of-play. BWhite player of the match goes once again to Esteban. What a run Esty is on. Tonight he drilled the deadball from the top of the box, but he also found feet all night long, creating opportunities for others to score. And I will reiterate, he is doing such a great job getting back behind the ball.
And Jack may not particularly like the switch to the "11," but he picked up a goal and two assists there tonight, while also creating 3 corners. (Watch the 8th goal where he hits that long diagonal switch that sends Matthew Connor into that great finish!)
And the "STA" ball is back. Zayveon exploded to the baseline to rip a ground cross through a nice Welch dummy on to a slot-filling Neely to finish the goal.
We only have one week of the regular season left. That seems hard to grasp. But here comes Rockhurst and BV West and Olathe Northwest to finish off the season. What a week!
