EKL Ends With a Nice Win

Game 15: 11 October vs. Defending 6A Champ BV West at Aquinas on Senior Night (0-1)

It was definitely a hard-fought match on senior night.  We got one pretty early, on just a great sequence that started with Esty directing a head ball to Neely who juggled it to Joey who flicked it back for one of the nicest give-in-go's that I have seen.

Shae Wirt made his comeback tonight in the second half after a long, long layoff. And sure enough, he had to make the play of the game (enough to get him the BWhite Player of the Match) for us to win it. Check out this save!

This was a very tough match, as BV West just kept coming at us. They played hard with the intent to quickly change the point of attack. But our defense played pretty well—our two starting centerbacks are out, Payne for the season, and Farrar, for who knows? Reid has been there now for awhile, and Jacob knows the position well even though he had been at right back before his concussion. We even got some good minutes there from Vance with Bryson able to play some left back.

And Carta. Well, he now is a right back even though he had never played it before our trip to Iowa.  We have been lucky to be deep enough and have our boys willing-enough to play wherever the team needs them.

And the Jags were missing the EKL 2017 Defensive Player of the Year last night–so they have their own injuries to deal with.  But they are playing well, and Alex will have them ready for a playoff run.

Mrs. Stoecklein and company really put on a nice senior night.  I love that video! Thanks to all of you who helped to make the night special for our seniors. Here is the walk-in: Click here.

We are now 11-4, finishing 5-3 in the EKL.
